Operate and troubleshoot Zoho transactional email

Use the correct email Agent's logs and delivery controls to diagnose bounces, restrictions, and uncertain sends without mixing marketing traffic.

Reviewed

After connecting Zoho CPaaS email, make its delivery evidence part of application operations. An SMTP/API acceptance and a recipient inbox result are different states; keep enough correlation to investigate them without logging sensitive content.

Establish an operational record

  1. Persist the application operation, approved recipient, sending Agent, and submission time before sending.
  2. Retain available provider identifiers/reference metadata and inspect the correct Agent’s email logs.
  3. Configure the delivery/bounce notifications or reporting supported by your account using the current Zoho help center.
  4. Keep permanent failures and suppression decisions separate from temporary transport errors.

If using SMTP reference headers, follow the documented Agent contract. Do not assume another provider’s identifier or webhook signature is supported because the services both offer SMTP.

Triage by failure boundary

  • Connection/TLS failures: check hostname, port/mode, network access, and trusted certificates.
  • Authentication failures: check the selected Agent’s SMTP/API credentials and region.
  • Sender/policy rejections: verify the domain and transactional use case; do not broaden access or switch identities to evade restrictions.
  • Accepted but absent mail: inspect bounce/delivery evidence before declaring success or replaying the message.

Exercise a controlled failure path before production and document a human-owned recovery decision for ambiguous sends. Keep marketing campaigns on an appropriate marketing service; the current introduction does not support them on this transactional channel.

MailKite can serve an independent incoming/reply workflow, but outgoing logs do not themselves provide a receiving mailbox.
