Configure a ZeptoMail / Zoho CPaaS email Agent

Follow Zoho's current CPaaS documentation, verify the sending domain, and separate an email Agent's credentials from mailbox passwords.

Reviewed

ZeptoMail’s official help now redirects to Zoho CPaaS, which identifies itself as the former Zoho ZeptoMail. This guide keeps the recognizable ZeptoMail name/slug while following the current transactional-email documentation.

Prepare the email Agent

  1. Open the correct Zoho CPaaS account/data-center context and select or create the email Agent for the application.
  2. Add the sending domain and complete its authentication/verification checks.
  3. Obtain credentials from that Agent’s SMTP/API section. These are application sending credentials, not the user’s Zoho Mail mailbox password.
  4. Store them in backend configuration and record the account/Agent scope and regional endpoint.

The current introduction describes transactional email as user-triggered messages and explicitly excludes marketing newsletters/promotional campaigns from this channel.

Verify the channel, not just the brand

Send one approved application message and check the intended Agent’s logs. Do not reuse another Zoho product’s account token or assume every Zoho region uses an identical hostname.

A domain verification failure, account restriction, or wrong Agent credential requires correction at that layer. Rebranding does not justify copying a historic API endpoint or shortening secrets to fit an outdated client.

MailKite provides a separate application-delivery/receiving contract. Connecting it does not create a Zoho Agent or grant access to an existing mailbox.
