Send an application transmission with SparkPost

Use SparkPost's transmission model with an authenticated domain and inspect acceptance before tracking delivery events.

Reviewed

SparkPost sends through its Transmissions resource. Follow the client/library links in its API overview and the Transmissions reference for the current request model and supported runtime.

Submit a bounded transmission

  1. Configure the correct regional endpoint and authorized API key.
  2. Use an approved From identity on your verified sending domain and a single controlled recipient.
  3. Provide the documented content and recipients structures, or select a real stored template with valid substitution data.
  4. Persist the returned transmission/correlation identity with your application’s send record.

Do not send the provider’s example addresses unchanged. A transmission can target several recipients, so application state must distinguish request acceptance from each recipient’s eventual result.

Verify and handle uncertainty

Check message events and the controlled inbox. An accepted transmission is not a guarantee of final delivery or inbox placement. Configure appropriate feedback before sending critical messages at volume.

For an API error, distinguish invalid content, sender verification, key permissions, account restrictions, and regional configuration. If the request times out after submission, investigate existing evidence before repeating the transmission.

When comparing with MailKite, map domain verification, templates, identifiers, and event handling explicitly. A MailKite SDK call is a separate transport—not a SparkPost-compatible transmission automatically enabled by replacing a token.
